Our Story
Back in 1998, we planted our first grapevines on the family farm. At first, it was just another part of our agricultural life. But in 2006 Chad couldn’t resist experimenting a bit, and before we knew it, he was making wine with those grapes—just for fun, at first. That “just for fun” batch quickly grew into way more wine than we could handle! We were told, “You’ve got to either sell this or start giving it away.” And that’s when we knew we had something special on our hands.
In 2010, we decided to open an ‘off site tasting room’ a few miles from where Prodigy stands today. But as more and more people asked us, “Where does this wine come from?” it became clear that we needed to bring the tasting room back to its roots—right here on our farm. So in 2015, we moved everything to the place that means the most to us: our family home.
We’ve got three wonderful kids—Tristan, Turner, and Trinity—who’ve grown up alongside this adventure. When we opened our doors to the public, we quickly realized that meant opening up everything, including our animals. And guess what? Our visitors fell in love with them just as much as we have.
Being on a 62-acre farm in horse country, it only made sense that horses would play a big part in our lives here—hence the logo. Over the years, our little farm family has grown. We now have not just horses, but also cows, alpacas, chickens, ducks, dogs, and cats! It’s our goal to cultivate an experience for our guests that resembles all things Kentucky in a unique way.
Prodigy has become a place where the community can gather, and we’re proud to be an animal-friendly spot where folks can bring their dogs, let them run, and just enjoy life on the farm. We hope to see you soon!
